General Visa Information for Indonesia

 

To enter Indonesia, foreign nationals need a visa. Here is detailed information on the different types of visas, how to apply, and the rules for visa-free entry.

 

Visa Types

 

1. Visit Visa

Purpose: Tourism, business meetings, or family visits.

Validity: 30 or 60 days.

Entry Options: Single-entry and multiple-entry.

 

2. Limited-stay Visa

Purpose: Long-term stays for work, study, family reunification, or retirement.

Validity: 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years, with extensions possible.

 

3. Diplomatic/Service Visa

Purpose: Official duties for government or international organizations.

Eligibility: Holders of diplomatic or service passports.

 

4. Other Types of Visa

Purpose: Special activities like research, film production, and cultural exchange.

Requirements: Specific conditions based on the purpose of the visit.

 

5. Visa on Arrival (VoA)

Eligibility: Citizens of certain countries.

Validity: 30 days, extendable once for an additional 30 days.

Availability: At designated entry points (international airports and seaports).

 

6. Visa-Free Entry

Eligibility: Citizens of certain countries for short stays.

Purpose: Tourism only.

Validity: 30 days, non-extendable.

Check Eligibility: Confirm if your nationality qualifies.

Passport Validity: At least six months from the date of entry.

Proof of Travel: Onward or return travel documentation.

Stay Limit: 30 days, non-extendable.

 

Visa on Arrival (VoA) for Indonesia

The Visa on Arrival (VoA) can be obtained at designated airports, seaports, or land border checkpoints.

Requirements

Passport: Valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival.

Return or Onward Ticket: Proof of onward or return travel.

Fee: IDR 500,000, payable by card (Visa, Mastercard, JCB).

Extension

Validity: Extendable for another 30 days.

Departure and Airport Tax

International Flights: Check with your airline or travel agent if the airport tax is included.

 

Overstaying Your Visa

Overstaying without proper authorization is serious:

Fine: 300,000 IDR per day.

Consequences: Detention or refusal to leave the country until the fine is paid. Overstaying for 60 days or more may result in detention and possible imprisonment.
