
Jungle Explorer
Treks allows you to travel deeper into the jungle, increasing your chances of seeing animals in their natural habitat. Camp next to the river, fall a sleep to the sounds of the jungle, swim in waterfalls and sing songs around the campfire. All this awaits you on your trek.



Duration:
3 days and 2 nights trekking.
Trekking:
Hike through various terrains, allowing you to explore deeper parts of the jungle and increase the likelihood of spotting wildlife like orangutans, Thomas Leaf monkeys, gibbons, and more.
Camping:
Spend two nights camping next to the river, providing a unique and serene experience of sleeping amidst the sounds of the jungle.
Swimming:
Opportunities to swim in natural waterfalls and rivers, offering a refreshing break during the trek.
Campfire:
Enjoy evenings around the campfire, singing songs, and sharing stories with other people. This Part is only possible when the weather good.
Meals/drinks:
All meals and drinks are provided during the trek, ensuring you have the energy needed for the adventure.
Guides:
Experienced guides and knowledge about the local flora and fauna, and ensuring a safe and informative trek.
Itinerary
Day 1:
8:30 AM: Pick-up from your guesthouse by our guides.
Morning: Cross the Bohorok River and enter the Sumatran rainforest. Hike up and down hills towards the west side of the national park.
Wildlife Spotting: Gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys, longtail and pigtail macaques, flying squirrels, Sumatran peacocks, hornbills, and possibly wild orangutans.
Educational Insights: Guides will explain the biodiversity and various species in the rainforest.
3:30 PM: Arrive at Jambur Batu River next to a big waterfall. Settle at the campsite.
Activities: Swimming, relaxing, enjoying afternoon coffee and tea.
Evening: Jungle dinner prepared over an open campfire. Play games, sing by the fire, or stargaze. Comfortable night with tents, mattresses, pillows, and sleeping bags.
Day 2:
Morning: Wake up to jungle sounds. After breakfast, set off for a 5-hour trek.
Deeper Exploration: Higher chances of encountering wildlife.
Lunch: Simple jungle meal prepared on top of a hill.
Afternoon: Memorable scenery through the national park.
Evening: Camp setup next to the big Bohorok River. Enjoy another delicious Indonesian dinner and refreshments.
Night Activities: Play cards, sing around the campfire. Experience the different nocturnal environment with new animals and sounds under a sky full of stars.
Day 3:
Morning: Wake up to jungle sounds. Opportunity to observe Sumatran monitor lizards, tortoises, and colorful river butterflies.
Breakfast: Followed by a 3-hour trek or relaxation at a nearby waterfall.
Lunch: Jungle fruit salad served.
Afternoon: Return to the village.
Jungle Taxi: Traditional tube-rafting down the Bohorok River with a personal captain. Exciting and unique way to end the trek.
Return: Back to your guesthouse, concluding the trekking adventure.

Included: Certified English speaking guide, porter, meals (day 1-lunch, dinner, fruit, day 2-breakfast, lunch, dinner, fruit, day 3-breakfast, lunch, fruit), all equipment (tent, roll mat, sleeping bag), drinking water, and rafting back after the trek.

Package excludes: Permit entrance to the Gunung Leuser National Park, camera tax 10 Euros/ person for normal day and 13 Euros/ person in Sundays or red days, payable to the national park office).

What to bring

A small backpack with clothes, raincoat, swimwear, small towel, small pillow, personal items, toilet paper, medicines, camera + spare battery + memory card (in a waterproof bag), insect repellent, sunblock, torch, plastic bag (to put wet clothes in), sandals/ flip flops (to walk around the camp).

Please make sure your luggage is as light as possible (ideally under 10kg).

You will be provided with a 1.5L bottle of water for each person, which the guide will refill at the camp with boiled water.

Clothing: long sleeves/trousers are optional as there are few mosquitos. Although nights can be cold in the jungle. Wearing something comfortable is most important.

Shoes: waterproof shoes with good grip/tread are essential for slippery paths.
